Massage has been used in Western Cultures since the time of Ancient Greece to restore health and bring about relaxation. Hippocrates, the Father of Modern Medicine, wrote about the benefits of massage in the treatment of many ailments. There are historical records of athletes being massaged prior to Olympic Games events as far back as 776 BC. In 1800 BC in India, the Ayurvedic Art of Life text recommended using massage techniques for health maintenance. The oldest known text written about massage is the Chinese Cong-Fu of the Toa-Tse, which dates from 3000BC.

Massage is an instinctive, primal response to health management. If something aches, you will touch it, hold it, and eventually attempt to rub the pain away! Our instincts tell us that touch is nurturing and comforting. When a child is upset, we hold and rock them. When a friend is stressed, we may pat them on the back, offering our support through our touch rather than our words. Touch is such a basic human needs that infants deprived of it do not survive.

Bodyflo Massage Therapy is dedicated to bringing you the nurturing, health enhancing touch that is right for you.
